When circumstances change without warning, having emergency home care at hand can help keep you (or a loved one) safe, independent and supported at home.
Tidal Living offers emergency care across London that is responsive and run by a team led by a psychotherapist, Sabbir Ahmed. The care we provide at Tidal Living is delivered by trained, CQC-regulated carers. Our goal in providing emergency care is simple: to get the right help to the right place at the right time.
When Is Emergency Care Helpful?
If you need home care on short notice or right away, it’s best if:
- You need emergency respite care because your main carer is suddenly unavailable.p of tea and talking, reading the news together or gently reminiscing over life stories
- There has been a fall, an illness, or a sudden change in mobility that needs emergency elderly care.
- You're leaving the hospital and need help getting home right away.
- A current arrangement has fallen through, and you need a reliable emergency carer right away.
National NHS guidelines state that timely community support should be the top priority so that people can stay at home and avoid unnecessary hospital stays. This is sometimes called “urgent community response” or “Home First.”
What happens in the first 24 to 48 hours?
At Tidal Living, we prioritise urgent requests, and if we have the time and resources, we can usually start helping within 24 hours. Your care coordinator will:
- Conduct a quick, person-centred assessment at home or in the hospital.
- Make a short-term emergency care plan that focusses on safety, comfort, and continuity.
- Find you experienced professionals who can help you with anything from emergency home care to more complicated care.
This flexible model fits with the NHS’s focus on providing quick, community-based help to people who are going through a crisis at home.
What Help Can We Give?
Your emergency home care services are personalised to you, the service user, and can include:
- Personal care (bathing, dressing, going to the toilet) and safe movement at home
- Help with medications, such as reminders or giving them out and talking to pharmacies
- Making meals and staying hydrated, as well as doing some shopping and light cleaning
- Being with someone and giving them comfort during a hard time
- Options for overnight, live-in, or 24-hour care for ongoing help
- Emergency dementia care or short-term dementia care led by our team of psychotherapists
Care can be provided on a short-term basis while you heal, or it can be provided for a longer time if you find that ongoing home support is helpful. Many families also choose to arrange their own home care; we at Tidal Living can support you to arrange this.
“Home First” makes it easier to leave the hospital; if you get home sooner than expected, we can help you get home safely and set up routines that lower the risk of having to go back to the hospital. Public guidance says that most people should go home when they are clinically ready, with timely and appropriate community support.
Why pick Tidal Living?
Tidal Living is a CQC-registered provider, which means that we are allowed to provide personal care and that we follow national standards and inspections.
Our care model is psychotherapist-led by a UKCP-registered psychotherapist, Sabbir Ahmed, who brings clinical knowledge to dementia care, behaviour support, and wellness.
Furthermore, our model is responsive by design: we prioritise urgent requests first and provide care to our service users quickly, with clear communication to family and health professionals.
We work together with hospitals, GPs, and community teams to make sure that your urgent and emergency care needs at home are met without any problems.
Call 999 if you have a life-threatening emergency, like severe chest pain, trouble breathing, or a serious injury. Call NHS 111 for urgent medical advice. Tidal Living’s social care helps with safety and daily living at home, but it does not substitute for emergency medical care.
