Domestic Home Help

Domestic help

We’re a new, local domiciliary care service. Our domestic home help offers practical, reliable support that keeps everyday life running—so your home stays comfortable and you can focus on what matters. This sits within care at home (home care): flexible support delivered where you feel most yourself—your own home. nhs.uk

What our domestic home help covers

We build a simple plan around your routines and preferences, with hourly care visits scheduled weekly, several times a week, or stepped up after illness or a hospital stay. Typical home help services include light housekeeping (dusting, vacuuming, kitchen and bathroom wipe-downs), laundry and ironing, changing bed linen, meal preparation and washing up, putting bins out and fridge checks, shopping and prescription collection, safe tidying and decluttering—and friendly conversation if you’d like some companionship care at home alongside practical help. National charities highlight that this kind of everyday support helps people stay independent at home. Age UK

How we work

Step 1

Start with a relaxed chat

Tell us what a good week looks like and what’s becoming difficult. Homecare is designed to flex—from a single hour a week to several hours a day, and at night when needed. nhs.uk

Step 2

Your personalised plan

We agree tasks, visit length and frequency. We schedule unhurried visits and prioritise continuity; NICE quality standards emphasise consistent carers and appropriate visit lengths for safe, dignified support. Most visits for older people should be at least 30 minutes, except when a shorter, specific task has been agreed as part of a wider package. NICE+1

Step 3

Ongoing check-ins

We review your plan and adapt if your health or routines change—adding a weekly shop, pausing batch cooking, or increasing support temporarily after discharge. NICE recommends initial and regular reviews so care stays aligned with your goals. NICE

Domestic home help vs personal care

Domestic help focuses on household tasks. If you also need personal care—for example help with washing, dressing or using the toilet—that element is a regulated activity in England and must be delivered by a CQC-registered provider. We’ll help you make sure any personal care in your plan meets CQC requirements. Care Quality Commission+1

Good to know: Domestic help on its own isn’t CQC-regulated; personal care is. You can check any provider’s registration on the CQC website. Care Quality Commission

Paying for support

Many people fund private home care services directly. Others begin with a care needs assessment from their local council—you’re entitled to one regardless of income. If you have eligible needs, you may receive a personal budget and choose Direct Payments to arrange support with the provider you prefer. We’re happy to work with Direct Payments. nhs.uk+1GOV.UK

Alongside domestic help, councils usually fund small home adaptations (under £1,000 per item)—such as grab rails or a ramp—when recommended after assessment. These simple changes can make everyday tasks safer and support independence. nhs.uk

Why choose domestic home help with Tidal Living?

  • Human, not hurried – We work at your pace and in the way you like things done—from how you prefer your bed made to which cleaner you use on the worktops.

  • Familiar faces – A small, consistent team helps build trust and spot changes early; NICE links continuity with better outcomes and dignity in care. NICE

  • Flexible by design – Swap ironing for a weekly shop, add a one-off deep tidy, or increase visits for a short time. Visiting care should fit around life, not the other way round. nhs.uk

  • Clear, safe boundaries – If your needs include personal care, we’ll ensure this is arranged under CQC rules, so your plan remains safe and compliant. Care Quality Commission
